Manufacturing System Integration Area

A manufacturing system integrates two types of information processing: technical and administrative. The former encompasses the product, production design, and manufacturing process, while the latter encompasses design and production management and production planning. Our research models and develops technology to streamline such processes. Specifically, we develop design support software such as an intelligent CAD system based on the designer’s intention and production support software such as a CAM system with flexible processing features. As part of our research on manufacturing system architectures, we also develop an integrated system that incorporates a collaborative decentralized manufacturing system with an intelligentized machine. Additionally, we study an assembly robot for flexible parts as an example of intelligentized machines.
