Processing for Manufacturing

Intelligent Manufacturing Process Area (Hirose Laboratory)

Manufacturing must provide materials with properties and structures compatible with a target structure or product. This requires intelligent manufacturing processes. That is, information and the manufacturing process must be integrated to provide materials with best compatible functions and intelligently control the manufacturing process. We conduct research to systematize materials science and physics of manufacturing processes, which are the core of intelligent manufacturing. Our targets include a wide range of products from electronic components to automobiles. Nanoscale structural analysis and control of surfaces and interfaces of the target products optimize the properties of structures regardless of their size.
