Physics of Surface and Interface Area (Nakatani Laboratory)

We discover novel functions and enhance existing functions by designing materials on the nanoscale, synthesizing metal and semiconductor lattices not found in nature, and investigating their magnetic properties and electrical conductivity. Our educational and research program elucidates the properties of material surfaces and interfaces (boundaries of dissimilar materials).
